Golden Bridge at Ba Na HIlls

Staring straight into the sun for a photo at the Golden Bridge at Ba Na Hills

Quick Overview of Sun World Ba Na Hills (Home of the Golden Bridge in Vietnam)

  • The only way to access the park and the Golden Bridge is through the cable car, which requires a park ticket. You can’t drive there, walk there, or take a shuttle bus. You can’t see the giant hands or walk across the bridge without taking the cable car up the mountain to the park.
  • Ba Na Hills is great for families, featuring attractions like the Golden Bridge, beautiful spiritual gardens, and an indoor park.
  • Arriving early, as the park opens, helps avoid crowds, especially at the Golden Bridge.
  • With various dining options and accommodations available, it’s easy to spend a full day or more exploring the sights, including unique spots like Luna Castle and the Zen Monastery.
  • Park tickets are all-inclusive of most of the rides and activities at Ba Na Hills theme park – bumper cars, carousel, 4D Theatre, 3D Theatre, indoor drop tower, cable cars, and access to the castle. The alpine coaster (4 tracks) and food in the park are separate expenses.
  • There was a lot of construction going on in and around the park while we were there. Some experiences may not be available at certain times through the day or at all during your visit. We found these temporary closures were minimal during our visit in November 2025.

Golden Bridge Experience: The Iconic Bridge with Two Giant Hands

Our adventure at Ba Na Hills began with the breathtaking Golden Bridge, a marvel held up by two giant rock hands, stretching across the mountains. We arrived mid-morning, and the bridge was bustling, but with a little patience, we found some breaks in the crowds to take some photos.

Ba Na HIlls Golden Bridge

We also visited the bridge just before 6 pm, at the end of our visit; it was nearly empty and lit up at night.

The Golden Bridge is a fun experience, but it is what everyone in the park is after. Don’t expect a clear photo of the bridge unless you arrive at opening hours and are the first one on the bridge. We were lucky to have visited on a day with blue skies and a few clouds, which provided the perfect backdrop, making this an unforgettable start to our day.

Getting to Ba Na Hills Theme Park from Da Nang

There are a few ways to get to Ba Na Hills from Da Nang City. We chose a Grab taxi, perfect for our family of five, since it is easy to use and the vehicles can accommodate all of us. Other options include scooters and tour buses. Many hotels and homestays will arrange tour groups to Ba Na Hills. So, if your dates are flexible, you may ask at the front desk if they’re planning a shuttle during your visit.

When you arrive in the parking lot, access to Ba Na Hills is strictly by cable cars that seat 8-10 people (unless you have a group this large, plan to share a cable car with strangers). The 20-minute cable car ride from the ground level over the pine-forested mountains is the only way to access the park, and the views are incredible.

Cable Cars to Ba Na Hills

The cable cars at Ba Na Hills offer an adventure of their own, with seven lines crisscrossing the park and providing breathtaking views of forests and waterfalls. The system holds multiple Guinness World Records for its design and length, a true marvel of engineering, and something you should not miss!

Ascending to about 1,400 meters, the cable cars offer sweeping vistas of the lush landscape. Arrive for early morning rides to minimize waiting times, but it’s probably not uncommon to get caught behind a tour group at any time of day. This is a very popular attraction.

Ba Na Hills is built in 2 sections on the mountain. The lower section includes the bridge and spiritual gardens with plenty of photo opportunities. From there, take another cable car to the French village where you’ll find Luna Castle, Fantasy Park, restaurants, and hotels.

Exploring the French Village

Entering the French Village feels like stepping into a quaint European town. The architecture features:

  • A blend of Gothic and colonial styles inspired by 19th-century France
  • Majestic castles (a pink “lava” castle that we saw being constructed, and a massive medieval Lunar Castle with plenty to explore)
  • Cobblestone streets
  • Charming squares

Our kids were particularly fascinated by the Cathedral and its colorful stained glass, reminiscent of cathedrals we’d visited while pet sitting in France.

The French Village offers more than sightseeing; it’s an adventure waiting to be explored. We spent hours wandering the streets, discovering unique shops, cozy cafes, and picturesque spots perfect for family photos. The ambiance, complete with French music and decor, made us feel like we were in a medieval village.

Luna Castle

Luna Castle, or “Lâu đài Mặt Trăng” in Vietnamese, is a must-visit. It features:

  • A design resembling a European castle
  • Medieval and Renaissance-inspired architecture
  • A location perched high on the mountain, creating a magical, cloud-covered appearance
  • A span of about 38,000 m² over four stories

We had a blast exploring Luna Castle. The 4D theatre (moving seats) on the third floor entertained us with a family-friendly movie about a family riding a roller coaster, and the 3D theatre on the top floor made us feel like we were flying over iconic cities.

Arcade games with unlimited credits were scattered throughout the castle, making it a perfect spot for short breaks and some air-conditioned fun.

Fun at Fantasy Park

Fantasy Park is a highlight that our kids loved. Included in the entrance fee, this indoor theme park offers a variety of games and rides for all ages. Key attractions include the Alpine Coasters, Free Fall Tower, bumper cars, play areas for younger kids, and the immersive Back to Jurassic walk-through adventure with animatronic dinosaurs. The theme park surprised our kids and was something they did not expect to see inside a castle at the top of a mountain.

Our boys were thrilled with the arcade games, especially since they were free and had unlimited credits. We saw Vietnam’s tallest indoor climbing wall at the park, but we didn’t climb it because it was closed. The 3D theatre shows play throughout the day and into the evening; it was easy for us to catch one of the family-friendly shows at each theatre. Fantasy Park is an excellent place to spend a few hours, especially if the weather changes, as many activities are indoors.

Alpine Coasters (Roller coaster)

For an adrenaline rush, the Alpine Coasters at Ba Na Hills are a must-try. They offer:

  • Four tracks
  • Thrilling rides at speeds up to 40 km/h
  • Gravity-powered mechanics that allow you to control your speed, making it a personalized experience for each rider, similar to roller coasters.

You are allowed to bring small bags and backpacks onto the coaster. The additional cost is reasonable, especially during happy hour. Discounted tickets are available (from 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm. The happy hour cost was 50k VND – about $2 per ride per person. Our youngest is under 1.4 meters tall, so he rode for free but had to be accompanied by an adult over 18 (he rode with mom).

The round-trip experience, riding down and then getting pulled straight back up to the starting point, was a highlight for our family.

Spiritual Sites and Scenic Views

Ba Na Hills also offers spiritual and scenic beauty. The Linh Phong Zen Monastery and Holy Mother Shrine in the Spiritual Land area offer cultural and spiritual significance, along with breathtaking views of the Trường Sơn Mountains and the French Village.

Visiting in November meant fewer crowds and shorter lines since there are fewer tourists at this time of year. The clear skies of the dry season, from February to August, are ideal for exploring these sites and capturing stunning photos, but it can be the busiest time of the year. The spiritual sites and gardens provided a peaceful break from the bustling attractions, allowing us to reflect and appreciate the serene surroundings.

Dining Options at Ba Na Hills

Dining at Ba Na Hills is a good option for families, with a plethora of options to suit every palate. There is an international buffet with over 90 dishes. For those who prefer local cuisine, some restaurants serve traditional Vietnamese dishes like ‘pho’ and ‘bun cha’, as well as street food options like grilled rice paper.

We ate a big breakfast that morning before leaving Da Nang in our Grab car, then opted for grilled sausage on a stick ($3 each) and some ice cream ($1.50 each) during our visit.

The park doesn’t allow outside food, and since the parking lot is a 30-minute cable car ride away, plan to buy a snack there. There is no shortage of delicious, high-quality dining options, from sit-down restaurants to grab-and-go street food.

Tips for Beating the Crowds

Timing is everything at Ba Na Hills. Arrive early, around 8 AM, and go straight to the bridge, or plan to visit the Golden Bridge late in the afternoon after 4 PM to avoid the largest crowds. The Golden Bridge was the only area in the park that we found extremely crowded.

If you visit during the Ba Na Flower Festival from late April to May, you’ll experience extra-special flowers and decorations in the gardens and spiritual sites. For a quieter experience, consider visiting between September and November, as our family did, when the crowds are smaller and the weather is pleasant. Bring a jacket for the mornings and evenings because it can be quite cool at the top of the mountain. We didn’t come prepared and were chilly.

What to Wear and Bring

You’ll need to plan for all kinds of weather at Ba Na Hills and wear comfortable shoes for walking. To prepare for variable weather conditions, consider the following:

  • Dress in layers, because the temperature can vary throughout the day.
  • Be prepared for sunshine, rain, and wind all in one day.
  • During November, temperatures can drop to 14 degrees Celsius at night, so bring a sweater or jacket.

If visiting during the rainy season, don’t forget a rain poncho or jacket and an umbrella. Comfortable, waterproof footwear is essential, as there’s a lot to see on foot, and you’ll be doing a lot of walking to see it all. We want you to be prepared so that you and your family have an enjoyable, stress-free visit.

Accommodation Options

Staying overnight at Ba Na Hills is a fantastic option for those wanting to make the most of their visit and experience this beautiful place to the fullest. Several hotels within the park offer exclusive benefits, such as discounted cable car tickets and access to private lanes for quicker entry. You can also beat the crowds at the Golden Bridge to get the stunning photos you are hoping for.

An overnight stay at the resort lets you explore the park without daytime crowds, for a more intimate, relaxed experience. With a variety of food options and comfortable accommodations, it’s a great way to extend your adventure at Ba Na Hills.

For our family, it was. Our boys were 16, 14, and 11 at the time of our visit. We enjoyed climbing stairs to explore gardens and pagodas, stopping to explore a castle with the surprise of fun-filled activities inside, eating tasty snacks, and enjoying the views from the 20-minute cable car ride up and back down the mountain. There was plenty of excitement with the alpine coaster rides and the indoor theme park activities in Fantasy Park.

What is the best time to visit Ba Na Hills?

The best time to visit Ba Na Hills is when the weather is good, but be sure to get there early in the morning, around 8 AM, to avoid the crowds on the bridge. Visiting during the dry season from February to August gives you clear skies for a perfect experience! We lucked out with a clear day in November, even though it got cool in the evening.

How do I get to Ba Na Hills from Da Nang or Hoi An?

To get to Ba Na Hills from Da Nang, you can rent a scooter, take a Grab taxi, hire a private car, or catch a bus. We took a grab (the Uber of Vietnam), and it was about an hour’s drive from downtown Da Nang. From downtown Hoi An, it’s just over a 2-hour drive. Many hotels in the area offer a shuttle service if they have multiple guests who want to visit on a particular day.

Can I bring my own food to Ba Na Hills?

You can’t bring your own food to Ba Na Hills, but there are plenty of delicious dining options inside the park for reasonable prices (especially compared to North American theme park prices).

Are the rides and games at Fantasy Park free?

While most rides and games are included with your entrance fee, a few attractions, such as the Alpine Coasters or a VR game, may cost extra. We found there was plenty to do included in our ticket, but we did pay a few dollars each to ride one of the alpine coasters – a must-do attraction.

Is it worth staying overnight at Sun World Ba Na Hills?

You’ll enjoy exclusive perks like discounted entry tickets and a quieter experience in the park when the crowds are gone. Balance that with the time and cost of travelling in from Da Nang or Hoi An for a day trip when considering an overnight stay with your family.
