During our stay in Penang, we had the chance to experience one of the hotel’s most unique themed rooms: the Diva Suite at The Granite Luxury Hotel Penang. Known for its bold design and glamorous aesthetic, the suite is very different from a typical hotel room — and definitely an experience in its own right.
We stayed in the suite with our three boys (ages 16, 14, and 12). Normally, the Diva Suite is configured for four guests with two queen beds, but the hotel kindly made an exception and accommodated our family of five during our stay.

First Impressions of the Diva Suite: Over-the-Top Glamour
The moment you walk into the Diva Suite, it’s clear that subtlety was not the goal. The room leans fully into its theme with bold, glamorous design and pink everywhere. From the décor to the lighting and furnishings, the space feels intentionally dramatic — the kind of place designed for celebrating or getting ready for a big night out.
For travelers looking for a memorable or photo-friendly room, the design definitely delivers. It’s the sort of suite that feels made for birthday celebrations, girls’ trips, or a bachelorette party, complete with an over-sized teddy bear.
While it’s a memorable experience, there is only one Diva Suite in the hotel, so book the Diva Suite early if you’d like it for a specific occasion.

Space, Layout, and Views
The suite itself is spacious, and even with five people, we never felt overly cramped. One feature that worked especially well for a larger group was the two-bathroom setup, which made getting ready much easier than sharing a single bathroom.
The suite is located on the 10th floor, which gives us great views over the city. While the views were nice, the Diva Suite feels like the kind of space people book less for the scenery and more for the experience of the room itself.
In many ways, it feels like a suite designed to be a fun base for getting ready before heading out for the evening.

How Our Boys Reacted
Traveling with three boys made for a slightly different perspective on the Diva Suite than the typical guest.
They absolutely enjoyed the novelty of the room, mostly because the design was so over-the-top. For them, the bright pink theme was more of a running joke than a luxury experience — but they still had a lot of fun with it for the night.
That said, it’s not a room they would have wanted to stay in for a full week. Like many themed accommodations, the novelty is part of the fun, but it’s best experienced in small doses. Book a standard room at the Granite Luxury Hotel for most of your stay and choose a suite for a night or two at the begining or end of your trip.

Who the Diva Suite Is Best For
Based on our experience, the Diva Suite is best suited for:
- Girls’ trips
- Birthday celebrations
- Bachelorette parties
- Friends looking for a fun, themed place to get ready before a night out
For families, it’s probably not the most natural fit unless you’re traveling with daughters who would enjoy the glam, pampered theme.
Our boys found the experience funny and memorable, but the room clearly isn’t designed with teenage boys in mind.

Our Recommendation for visiting the Diva Suite at The Granite Luxury Hotel
If the Diva Suite is on your travel bucket list, we’d recommend booking it for a single night as part of your stay. That gives you the chance to enjoy the experience, take some photos, and have a fun evening in the themed suite.
After that, moving to one of the regular suites at The Granite Luxury Hotel Penang for the rest of your visit may be a more comfortable option for a longer stay.
Like the hotel’s Safari Suite, the Diva Suite works best as a one-night experience rather than a long-term base — but it’s definitely a memorable one.
