Have you ever wanted to drive like you are in the video game ‘Mario Kart?’ Vietnam is the place to do it! Take a Grab car or motorbike 10 minutes outside of Da Lat, Vietnam, to ‘The Cao Nguyen Hoa’ track. Get ready for a Mario Kart go-karting experience as you ride in an ignition-less kart downhill. Don’t worry – you’ll have handlebar brakes to control your speed so you don’t plow into the other riders or into the side walls (yes, we may have accidentally done both of those things).

This real-life “Mario Kart” track is designed specifically for thrill seekers like our three boys.

Located in the Cao Nguyen Hoa park, the track is the main attraction, even though the park (which is actually a flower farm) offers other activities, mostly focused on photo-perfect spots with views of the lush green mountains of Dalat in the background.

Our visit with our three boys (16, 14, and 11) in November 2025 lasted about 90 minutes, including buying tickets, riding the green line go-kart down, dipping our feet in the stream at the bottom, shuttling back to the top, stopping at the big swing for some photos, then taking the red line go-kart down, and shuttling back to the entrance.

You can take more time here by visiting the cafes (one before the track at the top of the hill and one at the end of the track at the bottom of the hill), wandering the gardens, and enjoying the infinity pool on a hot day. It’s also possible to spend less time than we did visiting Cao Nguyen Hoa Park by focusing on simply riding both tracks.

Cao Nguyen Hoa Track is the official name for what locals and tourists have dubbed “Mario Kart Dalat”

Where can I experience Mario Kart in Vietnam?

The go-karting experience at Cao Nguyen Hoa is designed to mimic the thrill of Mario Kart, featuring colorful karts and two challenging downhill tracks.

Drivers have precise control over their speed using two hand brakes and steering bars. Our boys probably didn’t use the hand brakes at all, but you can (and should) brake around corners throughout the winding track.

The track is equipped with crash cushions and rubber tires, which I (Adam) used multiple times.

If you love thrills, the go-karting experience at Cao Nguyen Hoa is a must-try activity for anyone visiting Da Lat. Suitable for riders of all ages and skill levels, it is an excellent option for families and groups of friends looking for fun and adventure together.

Our boys were 16, 14, and 11 when we visited, and all five of us were able to ride in our own car and control our speed as we went downhill on the track.

Are the Mario Kart cars motorized?

No, the carts aren’t motorized. Since the track is a downhill luge, the karts are equipped with two hand brakes and steering bars for control. The rest is up to gravity.

Do I need to bring a phone holder if I want to record video at Mario Kart, Dalat?

You won’t need a phone clip for Mario Kart. The course offers helmets with a built-in cell phone holder – so handy! If you bring a Go-Pro to film your race, they have helmets for those, too. The workers will check that your phone is recording video before you start your race. They love it when you take a video of your race and post it on social media to promote their business.

How close is Mario Kart Da Lat to Nintendo’s Mario Kart Game?

Calling the track “Mario Kart” is more of a marketing approach and a nickname for the course. The cars are very colorful, but the experience focuses purely on racing downhill and the beautiful scenery, without the projectile-launching elements or power-ups found in the video game. Leave your banana peels and red turtle shells at home!

Is there a shuttle in the park?

Since the Mario Kart experience is all downhill, at the bottom of the hill, there is a cafe, some gardens, and a shuttle stop that takes you back to the beginning of the track or the park entrance/exit by bus.

What is the Mario Kart Dalat Price?

  • For park entrance only (no karting) for adults, the cost is 150,000VND (About $6 USD or 5 Euro)
  • For park entrance only for kids (under 1.2m / about 48 inches), the cost is 70,000 VND (about $3 USD or 2.5 Euro)
  • For the combo ticket (the one that’s required to ride the kart track twice) the ticket is 250,000 VND (about $10 USD or 8 Euro)

Here are the entrance fees for Mario Kart Dalat (Cao Nguyen Hoa Track) as of Nov 2025.

At first, we were confused about the combo cost since the translation for the lower-priced ticket was something like “the gardens,” and we thought we would just skip the gardens and do the kart tracks … instead of getting the combo, give us the kart tickets, and we’ll skip the garden. BUT the “Gardens” is the entrance to the park, so if you want to ride the karts, the combo ticket is the only option, and the combo allows you to ride the kart track twice.

Tour packages that include a stop at the Mario Kart track will often include transportation from Da Lat, a meal at a local restaurant, or another attraction like Mongo Land. We chose to hire a Grab to drive us to and from the park.

You can pay with cash at the park (Vietnamese Dong only) or you can use a QR app like Moreta to pre-load an amount from your credit card and use it throughout Vietnam. You won’t be able to pay directly with a credit card at the park.

Exploring Cao Nguyên Hoa (Translating to Flower Plateau)

Cao Nguyen Hoa Park offers a variety of attractions and activities beyond the thrilling go-karting track. Visitors can enjoy a giant swing that provides stunning views and an infinity pool of resort quality, perfect for relaxing after an exciting race (it was 20 degrees Celsius when we visited in November 2025 – perfect for racing, but not tempting enough to get in an unheated pool).

The park’s lush gardens and photo opportunities made for some great memories on our visit. Additionally, a café on-site serves authentic Vietnamese drinks, like salted coffee and egg coffee along with sodas and snacks.

Different flowers and plants will be in season at different times throughout the year. When we were there in November, it was hydrangea season (coincidentally, the same flowers we had in our wedding bouquets) so we took some photos of the hydrangeas potted and ready to ship out.

Location and Scenery of Dalat

Da Lat, located in the southern region of Vietnam, is a beautiful city surrounded by lush mountains and picturesque waterfalls. It was originally established as a getaway destination during the French Colonization of the early 1900s, similar to Sa Pa in the north. Higher elevation means escaping the heat of the cities and lower-elevation coastlines of Vietnam.

The view from the entrance area at Cao Nguyen Hoa Track

The Cao Nguyen Hoa track is nestled within this stunning natural scenery, offering breathtaking views (which I’m sure our boys missed since their only goal was to be the fastest to the end of the track).

As the track winds its way through the hills, riders face challenging hairpin turns and various obstacles (like trees growing in the track and low-hanging branches – a bit of a stray from the North American safety standards we’re more accustomed to).

Other Attractions and Activities at Cao Nguyen Hoa Park

At the top of the park (before riding the luge tracks)

Besides the two real-life Mario Kart tracks, the park also has swings that swing over the cliff edges for great photo moments, a cafe with a variety of botanical plants and views that looks over the valley of flowers, an infinity pool overlooking the valley (for a hot day), and multiple photo spots, including a classic car and oversized picture frames with the grassy mountains in the background.

At the bottom of the park (after riding the track)

There’s a cafe at the bottom of the tracks that feels like you’re in a jungle, a stream where you can dip your feet, flower gardens you can wander through and explore, and a shuttle to take you back up the hill to the top of the park.

There’s a stream with seats along it for cooling off and hair dryers to dry your feet before getting in the shuttle up the hill

What else is there to do in Dalat, Vietnam?

In addition to the go-karting track and park attractions, visitors to Da Lat can explore a wide range of other activities like visiting Mongo Land, experiencing a traditional silk factory, and seeing the impressive Linh An Pagoda, which houses the tallest Lady Buddha statue.

We also enjoyed visiting the Crazy House and the Alpine Coaster at Datanla Waterfalls Park.

Where is the Real Life Mario Kart in Vietnam?

The Cao Nguyen Hoa track (nicknamed the Mario Kart Track) is located just outside Da Lat in southern Vietnam. It’s a separate park from Mongo Land, but the two are often combined in tour packages since they are in the same direction when traveling from Dalat.

Is Mario Kart in Mongo Land?

No, Mario Kart is not at Mongo Land. These parks are close to each other (about a 10-minute drive) and in the same direction from Dalat, but they are separate parks. We made a day of visiting both, starting with Mario Kart, then visiting Mongo Land. Many tours will combine the two and include transportation to create a single day of activity, which is where some of the confusion comes from that Mario Kart is in Mongo Land, Dalat.
